Both Nguyen Van Thanh and Nguyen Thi Thuy are orphans. 

They had no money for a formal wedding ceremony but lived together in a boat on the Red River for 47 years.

Mr Thanh works hard as a garbage collector to eke out a meagre living.

Thuy is failing in health and the couple decided it was time to pledge their undying devotion to each other. 

Upon learning of their impending marriage photographer Hai Le Cao convinced them to let him post photographs on social media.

Their wedding photos have gone viral, having attracted 25,000 likes and 6,000 shares on Facebook.
