The Esports Championship Asia 2025 (ECA 2025) kicked off on November 20 in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho.
Vietnam will host the Asian Esports Championships (ECA 2025) for the first time from November 19–22 in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho, marking a milestone in the country’s growing presence on the global esports stage.
Esports, or electronic sports, has been growing rapidly in recent years, and is projected to reach $48.09 billion by 2034. With such growth, Vietnamese firm FPT has been openly ambitious about entering the field.
Vietnam and the Republic of Korea have agreed to enhance cooperation in the field of e-sports, aiming to professionalise the sector and improve the performance of national teams through the application of sci-tech in management and training.
Vietnam’s eSports industry recorded total revenue of $5.78 million in 2023, reflecting an 11.15% increase from 2022. This figure is projected to rise to $10 million by 2030, with strong growth anticipated in the coming years.
Vietnam’s eSports market is projected to reach $8.73 million in revenue by 2027, driven by growing viewership and increased investment in tournaments, according to the Vietnam eSports White Paper.
