Located in Nui Sap town, Thoai Son district, An Giang province, about 20km from the center of Long Xuyen city, Truc Lam An Giang Monastery began construction in 2017 and covers an area of 19 hectares. The architecture follows the traditional style of the Truc Lam Yen Tu Zen sect, divided into inner and outer courtyards.
The inner courtyard features a 13-story pagoda on the left and a 63-meter tall statue of Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara on the right. The outer courtyard includes the main gate, main hall, ancestral house, conference hall, meditation hall, bell tower, and drum tower, all harmoniously designed within a beautiful landscape, creating an ambiance likened to a miniature Ha Long Bay in An Giang.
Serene and beautiful images of Truc Lam An Giang Monastery have been widely shared on social media. The photographer, Huy Tran, from Long Xuyen (An Giang), captured these images in March 2023, and they continue to attract attention.
"I often visit nearby locations on weekends to find inspiration for photography and introduce the scenic beauty of An Giang to others. The monastery provides a peaceful atmosphere and many beautiful scenes to admire," Huy said.
Truc Lam An Giang Monastery is part of the Oc Eo - Ba The archaeological site, along with the Ong Thoai Lake area. This site caters to spiritual and cultural needs while also enhancing community-based eco-tourism, preserving and promoting the traditional values of Buddhist culture, and connecting historical and cultural sites in the region.
An Giang is a culturally rich area with a diverse mix of ethnic groups, including the Kinh, Cham, Hoa, and Khmer, featuring many religious and cultural relics and traditional festivals.
In recent years, An Giang's tourism industry has focused on developing various forms of tourism, with spiritual tourism playing a central role. Major spiritual tourism sites include Sam Mountain National Tourism Area, Cam Mountain, and numerous temples and shrines in the Bay Nui region.
