Professor Trinh Xuan Thuan, a Vietnamese American astrophysicist who has been famous worldwide, will attend three talk shows in HCMC between July 10 and 13.
The first event, titled “Sach va nha khoa hoc” (books and scientists), is scheduled for 9 a.m. on July 10 on the book street of Nguyen Van Binh in downtown HCMC.
The second will discuss the origin of the universe at 6 p.m. at the Institute of Cultural Exchanges with France (Idecaf), 12 Le Thanh Ton Street, District 1. The third, “Con duong den vu tru” (the road to space), will happen at 9 a.m. on July 13 at HCMC University of Technology, 268 Ly Thuong Kiet Street, District 10.
Tre (youth) Publishing House, which has published eight books by Professor Thuan in Vietnam, is organizing those talk shows. The event at Idecaf is fully booked. Admission is free.
Born in Hanoi in 1948, Professor Thuan studied at Lycee Jean-Jacques Rousseau, the present-day Le Quy Don High School in downtown HCMC.
He has won many international awards, including the Moron Awards of the French Academy of Sciences in 2007, Kalinga Awards of UNESCO in 2009, and Cino del Duca of the French Institute and Louis Pauwels in 2012.
