On the evening of March 21, police at the Tan Son Nhat international airport checkpoint, in coordination with the Criminal Police Division of Ho Chi Minh City Police, apprehended Hu YongChao, 34, as he was completing check-in procedures for an outbound flight.

Hu YongChao was identified as the prime suspect in the killing of another foreign national at T.H. Hotel, located on Street No. 33 in An Lac ward, which occurred on the afternoon of March 20.

Following the discovery of the victim’s body, bearing multiple injuries, investigators from the Criminal Police Division worked alongside other units to trace the suspect. Authorities quickly determined that Hu YongChao was responsible and launched a coordinated manhunt, alerting multiple agencies.

Upon receiving the information, airport police at Tan Son Nhat implemented operational measures and conducted verification checks. They discovered that Hu YongChao was preparing to board a flight from Ho Chi Minh City to Shandong, China.

Through security camera footage across the airport, officers located the suspect at a coffee shop on the second floor of Terminal T2.

Police forces then moved in and arrested Hu YongChao.

During interrogation, the suspect admitted to the killing at T.H. Hotel. Based on his statements, investigators recovered the weapon used in the crime - a knife that had been hidden on top of a beverage cabinet at a local eatery.

Hu YongChao, along with related evidence, has been transferred to the Criminal Police Division of Ho Chi Minh City Police for further investigation and legal proceedings.
