The commission convened its fifth session under the chairmanship of Tran Sy Thanh, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, and head of the commission.
During the session, the commission reviewed proposals for disciplinary action against Party organizations and members found in violation at ACV and in Ninh Binh province.
The commission concluded that Vu The Phiet, member of the Government Party Committee’s executive board, Secretary of the Party Committee and chairman of ACV; Lai Xuan Thanh, former Secretary of the Party Committee and former chairman; Nguyen Tien Viet, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and acting deputy general director; and Le Van Ha, former member of the provincial Party executive committee and former Secretary of the Party Committee of Le Ho ward in Ninh Binh, had shown degradation in political ideology, ethics, and lifestyle.
These individuals were found to have violated Party regulations and state laws in performing their duties, particularly in anti-corruption, anti-wastefulness, and prevention of misconduct. They also breached rules on conduct prohibited for Party members and responsibilities for setting an example, causing extremely serious consequences and severely damaging the reputation of Party organizations, as well as their respective localities and agencies.
Based on Party regulations, the Central Inspection Commission decided to impose expulsion from the Party on Lai Xuan Thanh and Nguyen Tien Viet. It also recommended that competent authorities consider disciplinary measures against Vu The Phiet and Le Van Ha.
The commission said it will continue to inspect, review, and discipline other related Party organizations and members.
At the same session, the commission also reviewed and concluded several other important matters.
In March, the Central Steering Committee for Anti-Corruption, Wastefulness, and Negative Phenomena decided to place the case involving “violations of bidding regulations causing serious consequences,” “offering bribes,” and “receiving bribes” at ACV and related units under its direct monitoring and direction.
Previously, the Ministry of Public Security’s Investigation Agency had detained Vu The Phiet and Nguyen Tien Viet to investigate alleged violations of bidding regulations causing especially serious consequences, including receiving money to facilitate contractors winning bids.
