Under the decisions, the four lieutenant generals, all members of the 13th Party Central Committee - Hoang Xuan Chien, Le Huy Vinh, Vo Minh Luong and Vu Hai San - will conclude their tenure as Deputy Ministers of National Defense and step down from their duties starting March 1.
Currently serving Deputy Ministers of National Defense include General Nguyen Tan Cuong, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army; Senior Lieutenant General Pham Hoai Nam; Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Truong Thang; Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Hien; Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Quang Ngoc; Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Gau; and Senior Lieutenant General Le Duc Thai.
The Prime Minister also decided that Senior Lieutenant General Huynh Chien Thang, a member of the 13th Party Central Committee, will be relieved of his post as Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army and retire from March 1.
Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien was born in 1961 and is from Hung Yen province. He was appointed Deputy Minister of National Defense in July 2020.
Senior Lieutenant General Le Huy Vinh, born in 1961 and from Hanoi, was appointed Deputy Minister of National Defense in October 2020.
Senior Lieutenant General Vu Hai San was born in 1961 and hails from Ninh Binh province. He assumed the post of Deputy Minister of National Defense in July 2020.
Senior Lieutenant General Vo Minh Luong, born in 1963 and from Quang Tri province, was appointed Deputy Minister of National Defense in October 2020.
Senior Lieutenant General Huynh Chien Thang was born in 1965 and is from Vinh Long province. He has served as Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army since November 2020.
