"I believe a nation that has spent 4,000 years sacrificing for independence and freedom, and a people who choose to look forward without hatred, deserve a capital with the soaring spirit of a dragon," he said.
According to Truong Gia Binh, as Vietnam enters a new stage of development and reshapes its economic landscape, Hanoi has delivered "a remarkable message" through its century-long planning vision.
A new mission for Hanoi
Reflecting on FPT's founding 38 years ago, Truong Gia Binh recalled that the company began with a small group of people who had neither technology expertise nor capital, working inside a 14-square-metre garage with "a single company seal, no desks and no chairs".
He said FPT has always remained grateful to Vietnam for providing the opportunity to learn, conduct research, grow and expand globally.
"From those original 14 square metres, we now have nearly two million square metres," he said.
The FPT chairman added that the company's growth also comes with responsibility after Hanoi entrusted it with developing the Tay Tuu Digital Technology Park, a technology complex covering nearly 200 hectares that broke ground earlier this year.
He described the project as a technology centre not only for Vietnam but also for the region and the world.
While acknowledging the scale of the challenge, he said generations of FPT engineers, researchers and talented professionals would work to fulfil the mission and live up to the aspirations associated with Thang Long.
Five commitments to Hanoi
At the conference, Truong Gia Binh outlined five key commitments on behalf of FPT.
First, he said the Tay Tuu project would become more than a technology park. It would serve as a place to nurture Vietnam's brightest minds, welcoming thousands of students and training hundreds of doctoral researchers.
Second, the centre would attract talent not only from Hanoi and across Vietnam but also from overseas Vietnamese communities and international experts to advance science and technology.
Third, FPT hopes Tay Tuu will become a destination that Hanoi can showcase to domestic and international visitors as a "living exhibition" of strategic technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, quantum technology, unmanned aerial vehicles, semiconductors and robotics.
According to Truong Gia Binh, no nation can become truly prosperous without mastering these strategic technologies.
Fourth, FPT plans to develop an innovation ecosystem involving leading domestic and international technology companies, universities, research institutes, major enterprises and the broader technology business community.
He noted that FPT has already partnered with NVIDIA, Samsung and Microsoft and plans to establish additional joint research laboratories focused on strategic technologies. The company also wants to help young Vietnamese entrepreneurs access advanced platforms such as NVIDIA's AI Factory while expanding cooperation with Viettel, VNPT, CMC and small and medium-sized technology firms.
"Only by joining hands and working together on major ambitions can we hope to achieve the soaring spirit of the dragon," he said.
Finally, Truong Gia Binh expressed his hope that Tay Tuu would become "a garden of happiness", where people could live and work in such a modern, convenient environment that they "would not even need to use motorbikes and could simply walk everywhere".
Concluding his remarks, he thanked Hanoi and Vietnam for entrusting FPT with such an important mission.
"We will do everything we can to turn Hanoi's 100-year dream into reality," he said.
NVIDIA sees Hanoi as a future global AI capital
Speaking at the conference, a representative of NVIDIA described the event as not only the beginning of Hanoi's next 100 years but also an opportunity to help shape the future of one of Asia's most important capitals in the age of artificial intelligence.
The representative said NVIDIA has expanded its teams of AI engineers and scientists in both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, attracting leading talent from universities, technology companies and overseas Vietnamese professionals to contribute to the country's development.
According to the company, Vietnamese engineers and scientists are fully capable of building world-class AI systems that serve both Vietnam and global markets.
"We believe Hanoi has a unique opportunity not only to adopt AI but also to become one of the world's leading AI capitals. The ultimate goal is not technology itself, but delivering better services for citizens and businesses, improving quality of life, building transparent and effective government, developing smart cities, creating new industries, increasing productivity and generating more high-value jobs," the NVIDIA representative said.
