As science and technology, digital transformation and innovation are the driving forces creating breakthroughs to lead the country into a new era, FPT Group has announced its move into strategic technologies with five units: Quantum AI and Cyber Security Institute (QACI), FPT UAV, FPT Railway Mobility Technology (FMT), FPT Cyber Security and DC5.
This is a strategic step by FPT aimed at mastering core technologies and building high-quality human resources in service of national technological sovereignty.
Science and technology, innovation and digital transformation are regarded by Vietnam as top-priority breakthroughs and the main drivers for renewing the development model, realizing the goal of becoming a developing country with upper-middle income by 2030 and a developed, high-income country by 2045.
Currently, 11 national strategic technology groups have demonstrated their indispensable pillar role across all areas of the economy, defense and national security, reflecting the viewpoint of technological self-reliance.
The FPT Strategic Technology Steering Committee is headed by FPT President Truong Gia Binh, with CEO Nguyen Van Khoa as standing vice head, together with members of the group’s executive board. The committee is responsible for leading and implementing strategic technology orientations across the entire group.
Binh said: “The world is entering a period of profound technological power transition: AI automates knowledge, semiconductor chips become the foundation of all business fields, cybersecurity determines digital sovereignty, and quantum technology opens a new computing era. To achieve this, there is no resource more valuable than people.
“There is no competitive advantage more sustainable than people. There is no greater strength than when Vietnamese intellect is placed on the right mission. FPT will become a place that gathers and develops Vietnam’s leading technology talents, working together to solve national challenges. FPT will be a training ground for technological peaks.”
Always pioneering new technology trends and participating in the development of IT infrastructure since its early days, FPT commits to accompany the country in mastering technologies.
In the field of quantum technology and AI, FPT established the Quantum AI and Cyber Security Research Institute (QACI), with Professor Ho Tu Bao as Science Director and Associate Professor Ngo Xuan Bach as Institute Director.
QACI focuses on key activities including research, solution development, doctoral and senior expert training, and international cooperation.
This is one of the first quantum research centers established by a Vietnamese enterprise to date. FPT will invest $100 million in the Quantum AI and Cyber Security Research Institute.
In the UAV sector, with an estimated scale of $10 billion by 2035, FPT appointed Vu Anh Tu, Group Chief Technology Officer, as Director of FPT UAV.
Recently, FPT has promoted the formation of a low-altitude economy in Vietnam through co-founding the Low-Altitude Economic Alliance with technology, finance, and aviation organizations, chaired by FPT CEO Nguyen Van Khoa; and promoting cooperation between the Japan Unmanned Aerial Systems Promotion Association (JUIDA) and the Vietnam Aerospace and Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Network (AUVS VN).
Vu Anh Tu, Chief Technology Officer of FPT Group, said that by 2035, Vietnam's low-altitude economy could reach $10 billion and create 1 million jobs.
The low-altitude economy includes economic activities taking place below an altitude of 1,000m, which can be extended to below 5,000m depending on the specific needs of each country, leveraging manned and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) technology, and low-altitude intelligent networks to develop infrastructure, manufacture aerial vehicles, provide services, and ensure flight safety.
With advantages in geopolitics, policies encouraging innovation, and a young and dynamic workforce, Vietnam is facing a "once-in-a-thousand-years opportunity" to become the low-altitude industrial center of the region and the world.
In the Railway Technology sector, FPT appointed Pham Minh Tuan, the Group's Deputy CEO, to be responsible for operating FPT Railway Mobility Technology.
Prior to that, FPT had outstanding global achievements in automotive design, manufacturing, software, semiconductors, IoT, SCADA, supporting a 24/7 continuous operation of large systems in high-safety industries such as aviation, energy, and oil and gas.
In the Data sector, FPT DC5, led by Pham Duy Phuc as Director, aims to build a data foundation that is "accurate-sufficient-clean-living", bringing better value to the nation and better experience to customers.
In the Cybersecurity sector, FPT Cyber Security, led by Pham Tung Duong, FPT Software's Chief Information Security Officer, as Director, will focus on investment research and forming a cybersecurity ecosystem, aiming for a safe, autonomous, and sustainably developing digital environment.
