Flower arranger Thu Hien recently organized an exhibition showcasing a series of eternal flower lanterns. These lanterns highlight the delicate beauty of Vietnamese wildflowers and Thu Hien's personal artistic touch.
Thu Hien shared that the idea for these eternal flower lanterns came from a touching encounter with a customer who brought his wife to Hanoi for cancer treatment. The husband wanted to give his wife a bouquet of flowers as a special gift, knowing their time together was limited.
"The couple's family was very poor. The first time the husband bought flowers for his wife, it was also the first time she received a gift from him. A few days later, the customer called to say that the bouquet was beautiful, but he would never buy flowers again because his beloved wife had passed away. This moved me deeply and inspired the idea of creating eternal flower lights to preserve such memories forever," she explained.
These eternal flower lights not only preserve memories but also serve as night lights, adding a practical element to their beauty.
While the concept of eternal flowers is not new, Thu Hien focuses on telling unique stories through each arrangement.
"Each 'immortal' flower lamp takes about 20 days to create and involves many stages. From drying fresh flowers to 'freezing' their brilliance and making them shine through the lamps, I developed the idea with various stories. These stories reflect personal experiences as well as the culture and history of different Vietnamese regions," she expressed.
