The Galaxy S27 Ultra is rumored to be heading for a major design change, but that may not be the only surprise. The latest renders reveal an unexpected possibility for Samsung’s next flagship.

When the first Galaxy S27 Ultra rumors began circulating, the biggest potential change involved the design of its camera array.

According to recent leaks, Samsung could abandon its familiar vertically arranged camera layout in favor of a new horizontal camera bar.

Well-known leaker Ice Universe previously published a design sketch purportedly showing the Galaxy S27 Ultra.

That information was later reinforced by Sonny Dickson, a source known for sharing images and details of unreleased devices.

But Dickson did more than provide another glimpse of the possible new design. He also offered a more intriguing revelation: Samsung may be developing the Galaxy S27 Ultra in two different sizes.

If accurate, it would mark a first for the Galaxy Ultra line.

It would mean Samsung is not simply changing the appearance of its most premium smartphone but potentially giving buyers significantly more choice.

Galaxy S27 Ultra could get a new camera layout

Following the initial sketch, Ice Universe shared additional renders offering a clearer look at how Samsung could arrange the camera system on the Galaxy S27 Ultra.

The images show the main and ultra-wide cameras positioned vertically, while the 5x telephoto camera appears inside a pill-shaped module alongside the flash.

Notably, the 3x telephoto camera, previously located toward the bottom of the second camera column, appears to have disappeared.

The new arrangement would mark a significant departure from the Galaxy S26 Ultra and earlier generations of Samsung’s Ultra flagship.

Samsung appears to be considering an entirely new visual identity for its highest-end smartphone.

Initial reactions to the rumored design, however, have been far from enthusiastic.

Many social media users have said the new camera arrangement looks less appealing than the current design.

Some have even expressed concern that Samsung is losing the distinctive identity of its smartphone designs and moving closer to ideas already explored by Apple.

For now, of course, these remain renders based on leaked information. Their quality and appearance do not necessarily represent how the finished product will look.

Once translated into real materials and integrated with the phone’s overall proportions, the final design could look considerably different - and potentially more convincing.

One user on X even suggested the change could become a notable example of how Samsung’s premium smartphone design philosophy is shifting.

Could two Galaxy S27 Ultra sizes be the bigger story?

Of all the newly leaked details, perhaps the most interesting is not the camera system at all, but the possibility that the Galaxy S27 Ultra could arrive in two sizes.

It remains unclear whether Dickson is referring to two genuine Ultra models or to a Galaxy S27 Pro positioned as an alternative-sized version of the Ultra.

Samsung has not confirmed any details about such a product strategy.

Either way, another premium model in a different size would offer a new option for users who want the most powerful Galaxy S27 specifications without having to carry an especially large device.

The move could also help Samsung reach a broader range of customers. The Ultra name has long represented the pinnacle of the Galaxy S lineup.

If Samsung does expand the brand into two sizes, it could carve out a new space between consumers seeking maximum performance and those who prefer a more compact device.
