On October 15, PSY announced his participation in the GENfest music festival, alongside international artists Hwasa, Loco, and Vietnamese stars such as Suboi, Chi Pu, HIEUTHUHAI, and Quang Hung MasterD.
PSY, whose real name is Park Jae-sang, was born in 1977 into a wealthy family but chose to pursue music instead of inheriting the family business. He debuted in 2001 with the album PSY from the Psycho World!
In 2012, his hit "Gangnam Style" became a global phenomenon, being the first video to reach 1 billion views on YouTube. After 12 years, the music video has amassed over 5 billion views.
Other hits, such as "Daddy," have garnered over 700 million views, while "Gentleman" has surpassed 1 billion. In 2018, PSY established his own entertainment company.
Hwasa (Ahn Hye-jin) is known for her confidence, stage presence, and captivating choreography, with hits like "TWIT" and "Maria." She was recognized by Forbes in the 30 Under 30 Asia list in 2021 and ranked as one of the most famous K-pop idols by Gallup Korea in 2019 and 2020.
Loco (Kwon Hyuk-woo) is one of South Korea's top hip-hop artists and was the winner of the first season of Show Me the Money. He has hits such as "Hold Me Tight," "Too Much," "Some," "It Takes Time," and "Just Like This," known for his distinctive performance style.
GENfest 2024, themed "Street in the City," will take place over two days on November 23 and 24 in Ho Chi Minh City. The festival will feature 15 Vietnamese artists, including Suboi, Chi Pu, Karik, Andree Right Hand, HIEUTHUHAI, Wren Evans, tlinh, Quang Hung MasterD, Duong Domic, Wxrdie, Mono, and Wean, with SlimV serving as the music director.
