Gold shops prepare for God of Wealth Day rush
Jewelry shops and companies have prepared large numbers of lucky gold products to meet consumers’ surging demand on the God of Wealth Day on the 10th day of the new lunar year, which falls on February 19 this year.
On February 17, jewelry shops on Hanoi’s Tran Nhan Tong street, dubbed "the street of gold", open earlier than normal to welcome customers seeking new-year fortune.
Buying a piece of gold on the God of Wealth Day, the 10th day of the lunar year, is believed to bring good fortune to their business and family throughout the year.
Many people flock to jewelry shops ahead of the God of Wealth Day.
Customers queue to purchase gold at a shop on Tran Nhan Tong street.
Sellers enthusiastically take care of buyers by offering fruits, drinks, and gifts.
In addition to traditional products such as figurines of the God of Wealth inscribed with words like Phúc (Happiness), Lộc (Prosperity) Tài (Wealth), and Thọ (Longevity), gold companies have also made a variety of dragon-themed items to celebrate the lunar year of the dragon this year.
Jewelry shops are scheduled to open their doors at 6 a.m. on February 19.
They also launch a variety of charm bracelets made of 24k and 18k gold with animal-shaped figurines, gold bars, and others featuring youthful designs at different prices.
The shops also plan to close their doors at 11 p.m. on the same day to meet consumer demand.
