A video capturing the groom standing on a stool to take pictures with his bride at their wedding ceremony has garnered over 700,000 views and 11,000 likes.
Standing at an impressive 1.82 meters tall, the bride stood out in every frame, while the groom, measuring 1.67 meters, stepped onto a small stool for select photos to achieve balanced framing, creating a charming visual.
The bride and groom are Kha Ai, born in 2000, from Dong Thap, and Vi Dan, born in 1997, from HCMC. Their wedding took place in the bride's hometown in May 2026 but has only recently gone viral on social media.
"I didn't expect the cute moments at our wedding to get so much attention," Kha Ai said with a smile.
Kha Ai and Vi Dan have an interesting "mismatched" love story. They met in 2020 through friends, when Kha Ai was working in Dong Thap and Vi Dan was living in HCMC.
In the early days of chatting via messages, they had no idea about each other's special height. What made their hearts flutter was their harmony in views on life, love and marriage. Simple conversations brought them closer every day.
Once Dan realized his true feelings, he traveled to Dong Thap to meet Ai in person. Upon seeing each other for the first time, both were stunned by the physical contrast and even burst into laughter at the surprise.
"However, that was far less important than our compatibility in personality and spirit. We decided to become a couple," Ai recalled.
The Dong Thap native admitted that during the early stages of their relationship, she felt somewhat self-conscious. Growing up, Ai had always been exceptionally tall, drawing attention whenever she walked alongside her peers. Standing next to a shorter partner initially made her uneasy about curious glances from onlookers.
"However, he was very confident and transferred that confidence to me. He held my hand tightly whenever we went out, constantly encouraging me to enjoy our present happiness rather than paying attention to surrounding glances," Ai shared.
The couple maintained a long-distance relationship for six years. Once or twice a week, Dan rode his motorbike 60 kilometers to Dong Thap to visit his girlfriend, determined to keep their bond strong. Once, when Ai fell seriously ill, Dan stayed by her side to care for her daily, a level of attentiveness that touched those around them.
There were moments of conflict when they considered breaking up, but Dan's patience and calm composure brought them back together each time.
The wedding
Due to their height difference, the couple experienced many humorous situations. They rarely took photos together because finding comfortable angles was challenging. Whenever they wanted commemorative photos, they had to seek suitable locations or poses to minimize the contrast.
With her tall stature, Ai occasionally felt protective of her boyfriend, such as reaching items from high shelves for him. On occasion, she playfully wrapped her arm around his shoulder in jest.
"On the day of our wedding photoshoot, the crew was quite surprised by our height difference. I asked them to prepare a low stool for him to stand on so we could get balanced shots," Ai laughed. "However, the groom kept forgetting to step on the stool, so our wedding album ended up with a mix of poses. It was very amusing."
For the wedding ceremony, Ai intentionally wore flat shoes. During ancestor worship rituals and commemorative photo sessions, she asked her husband to step onto a 25-centimeter chair to achieve cleaner, more complete photographs. The groom happily agreed.
"For most of the wedding, we remained our natural selves. After all, our family and friends were already completely accustomed to our appearances," Ai said.
The most emotional moment for the bride occurred when her mother led her by the hand to hand her over to the groom, followed by the couple performing traditional ancestor rites before both families.
That moment marked a beautiful conclusion to their resilient six-year romance as they embarked on a new journey together, building the family home they had long envisioned.
