The photo which featured a group of tourists posing beside the Lung Cu Flag Tower and one of them sitting on an engraved marker was criticised by some people on social media.
On June 8, a representative from the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism said that they were going to ‘have a meeting’ with the tourist.
Speaking with Dantri/Dtinews, Ha Giang Provincial Association of Tourism chairman Lai Quoc Tinh said that it looked like the visitor hadn't known much about the site while the tour guide didn't notice the pictures being taken.
"We'll set up a team to work with all travel companies that are providing tours to the Lung Cu Flag Tower to give guidance and instructions when visiting this site to prevent repeats of situations," he said.
Located in Dong Van District's Lung Cu Commune, the north pole of Vietnam, Lung Cu Flag Tower is built in the peak of Rong (Dragon) Mountain at 1,468 metres above the sea level. The site is also a favourite destination for tourists to Ha Giang.
