Speaking to VietNamNet on the morning of April 2, a representative of the provincial statistics office confirmed that Ha Tinh ranked first nationwide in economic expansion during the period.

In Q1/2026, the province’s GRDP grew by 12.42 percent, significantly higher than the 6.12 percent recorded in the same period last year, placing it at the top among all provinces and cities.

Growth was driven by multiple sectors. Industry and construction expanded by 20.67 percent, contributing the largest share with 8.65 percentage points. The service sector grew by 7.26 percent, adding 2.72 points, while agriculture, forestry, and fisheries increased by 2.81 percent, contributing 0.29 points. Product taxes minus subsidies rose by 7.33 percent, accounting for 0.76 points.

Industry continued to act as the main engine of the economy, posting growth of 22.59 percent and contributing 7.73 percentage points. Key products such as steel, electricity, beer, automobiles, batteries, and fiber maintained positive momentum, playing a crucial role in the overall performance.

At the same time, investment and construction activities remained vibrant. Total development investment in the first quarter was estimated at VND13.749 trillion (US$550 million), up more than 10 percent year-on-year.

The service sector also showed clear signs of recovery. Total retail sales of goods, along with revenue from accommodation, food services, and tourism, increased by more than 12 percent, indicating a strong rebound in consumer demand.

Meanwhile, agriculture, forestry, and fisheries continued to maintain stability. Favorable weather conditions supported a productive winter-spring crop, livestock farming grew steadily with a slight increase in herd size, and aquaculture and fishing activities achieved solid results.

The impressive growth in the first quarter reflects flexible and decisive governance by local authorities, as well as the strong recovery and development of businesses and residents.

For 2026, Ha Tinh has set a growth target of over 10 percent. With a solid foundation established early in the year, the province is expected to maintain its momentum and create favorable conditions to meet - and potentially exceed - its annual targets.
