Hundreds of houses and several hectares of vegetable and rice crops in the northern mountainous provinces of Son La, Lao Cai and Lai Chau were reportedly damaged by heavy rain, hail and thunderstorms.
Hail caused damage in several communes in the northern mountainous province of Dien Bien on March 22.
VietNamNet Bridge – A freak hailstorm injured five people in the northern province of Cao Bang on March 31. Thousands of houses and hundreds of hectares of crops were damaged as well.
VietNamNet Bridge – Thunderstorms that lasted nearly two hours in the Mekong Delta province of Dong Thap damaged hundreds of houses. Hails appeared in some places.
VietNamNet Bridge - According to statistics, hail has appeared in nine localities, leaving one dead, 44 injured and tens of thousands of houses damaged.
Lasting for 20 minutes, the hail early this morning, March 29, caused a lot of losses for Bao Yen District in the northern mountainous province of Lao Cai. Meteorological experts say they have never recorded such continuous severe hails.
The hailstorm occurring in the early morning of March 27, in the three districts of Bac Ha, Muong Khuong and Si Ma Cai in Lao Cai province damaged nearly 12,000 houses, causing losses of about VND70 billion or $3.5 million.
A 20-minutes hail on March 27 broke the roofs of thousands of houses in the northern mountainous province of Lao Cai and injured 16 people. Many people had to hide themselves under beds.
