In the list published by the renowned British travel magazine on September 15, Hanoi secured fifth place. The Vietnamese capital was described as having “a uniquely distinct autumn” compared to other destinations in the region.

“Wandering around Hoan Kiem Lake, visitors can easily spot rows of trees turning golden and crimson, enriching the crisp late-year air,” Time Out wrote. The publication also noted that northern Vietnam’s autumn coincides with the Mid-Autumn Festival, offering visitors a wide range of cultural and sensory experiences.

“From lion dances and traditional folk music to fragrant mooncakes filled with lotus seed paste, salted egg yolk, and mung beans... all of it contributes to a vibrant and unforgettable atmosphere.”

“At night, the streets light up with thousands of lanterns, painting a dreamlike and captivating scene,” the article continued.

Time Out recommends that visitors plan their trip to Hanoi in October to fully experience the city’s autumn charm.

Besides Hanoi, the list includes six other destinations: Ibaraki and Kyoto (Japan), Nami Island (South Korea), Alishan National Scenic Area (Taiwan/China), Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, and Jiuzhaigou Valley National Park (China).
