Homeland Spring is an annual event which aims to provide a platform to overseas Vietnamese nationals from across the global to return to their homeland to celebrate the traditional Lunar New Year festival, known locally as Tet.

This year’s event is expected to welcome approximately 1,000 overseas Vietnamese nationals throughout the world who came together to create an atmosphere of a traditional Tet celebration.

The occasion will see a broad range of activities take place, including offering incense during a ceremony at Kinh Thien temple, the release of carp throughout Hoan Kiem lake, also known as Sword lake, in addition to a wreath-laying ceremony which took place at the Monument to the Heroic Martyrs on Bac Son street.

According to the information released by the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese, the Homeland Spring 2020 is expected to be held at the National Convention Center in Hanoi with the event due to be broadcast live on VTV1, VTV4, and local television stations.

The program is expected to enjoy the attendance of Party and State leaders, in addition to representatives from the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and members from ministries and agencies around Hanoi.

According to organisers, overseas Vietnamese who are living, studying, and working abroad can register their attendance through the nation’s representatives abroad, or through the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs before January 6, 2020.
