According to the committee, Hanoi is now charging entry tickets to 10 tourist sites including the Temple of Literature, Ngoc Son Temple, Hoa Lo Prison, Co Loa Relic Site, Quan Thanh Temple, Thang Long Imperial Citadel, Duong Lam Village, Thay Pagoda, Tay Phuong Pagoda, and Huong Pagoda.
"The current ticket fees collected from visitors to these sites are not enough to cover conservation and renovation work, the committee said. "So it's necessary to raise the fees so that the management have more funds to improve service quality.
The committee proposed the highest fee hikes at the Thang Long Imperial Citadel, from VND30,000 to VND100,000 per ticket; followed by the Huong Pagoda from VND78,000 to VND120,000 per ticket; and the Temple of Literature from VND30,000 to VND70,000. Ngoc Son Temple and Hoa Lo Prison are both proposed to have a ticket fee hike by VND20,000 from VND30,000 to VND50,000.
Disabled people and children under 16 years old are proposed to have free entry, while the elderly and students will get a 50 percent discount.
