A young mother from Hanoi captured her son’s adorable expression in a short clip and shared it online, unexpectedly garnering over 18 million views for the 7-second video where the little boy says just one word: “Nin” (quiet).
For the past four days, the clip of the little boy mimicking his teacher’s word “Nin” has been making waves on social media. While the content of the clip is simple, the boy’s expression is irresistibly charming.
In the video, when his mother asks, “What does the teacher say when you cry in class?” the boy points his finger and says only one word: “Nin.” His expression prompted laughter from both his grandmother and mother.
Many viewers have replayed the video multiple times, captivated by baby Sua’s cuteness. The video quickly attracted widespread attention, with numerous comments praising the child’s adorableness and admitting they’ve watched it dozens of times.
Some individuals have even recreated the boy’s expression in drawings or used screenshots as humorous conversation icons online.
The clip currently boasts over 18 million views and nearly 35,000 comments.
The story behind the viral clip
The creator of this heartwarming video is 23-year-old Nguyen Phuong Nhi from Hanoi.
“About four days ago, I recorded and posted the clip of my son on my TikTok account. I never imagined it would go viral and attract so much attention,” Nhi shared.
That evening, Nhi’s son, Nguyen Danh Hung (nicknamed Sua, 21 months old), was playing with his grandmother. During playtime, the grandmother asked, “Have you been crying at school recently? What does the teacher say when you cry?” The little boy immediately demonstrated his teacher’s gesture and words.
Finding his reaction amusing, Sua’s grandmother suggested that Nhi record it as a keepsake.
At first, Sua did not mimic on cue. Just as he was about to follow his grandmother to the room, he suddenly repeated the teacher’s “quiet” command from school. Fortunately, Nhi managed to capture the brief, 7-second moment.
“Later, I asked him to do it again, but he couldn’t replicate the same expression as in the video. When I showed him the clip, he simply laughed and said, ‘Oh, baby,’” Nhi recounted.
The teacher mentioned that at school, while playing with classmates, Sua would occasionally repeat the action but not quite like in the video. At home, Sua often imitates his teacher, calls his parents and grandparents “my friends,” and enjoys mimicking animal sounds.
Since both parents and grandparents are busy, Sua started attending school at 11 months old. Beforehand, Nhi employed psychological encouragement to make him comfortable with attending class.
Sua initially had about four difficult days of crying at school. After that, he started enjoying playing with friends, sitting calmly, and listening to his teacher. School has made him livelier and more confident. He’s no longer afraid of strangers and loves being funny.
Nhi frequently posts pictures and videos of her son on social media, viewing it as a way to preserve his precious memories. She never intended to “turn him into a celebrity.”
“I want my son to have a childhood like other kids. I might make videos with him, but I won’t involve him in public events,” Nhi said.
Sua’s sudden fame has been an incredible surprise for Nhi and her family. Her TikTok channel typically focuses on family life and motherhood. Nhi feels grateful that so many people find joy in her son’s antics.
She hopes the video remains a cherished memory for Sua and their family.
