
The Hanoi Department of Tourism has reported that the capital welcomed approximately 3.18 million visitors in August 2025, marking a 27.5% increase compared to the same period last year.
Among them, international arrivals were estimated at over 709,220, including 500,000 foreign tourists who stayed overnight. Domestic travelers made up approximately 2.47 million visits. The average occupancy rate of hotel accommodations during August was estimated at 59%. Total tourism revenue reached around 12.54 trillion VND (approximately 492.3 million USD), up 31.5% year-on-year.
For the first eight months of 2025, Hanoi is estimated to have received a total of 21.58 million visitors, an increase of 13.9% compared to the same period in 2024. This includes 4.96 million international visitors, with 3.49 million of them staying overnight. Total tourism revenue for the eight-month period was estimated at 85.835 trillion VND (about 3.37 billion USD), up 17.1% year-on-year.
According to Dang Huong Giang, Director of Hanoi’s Department of Tourism, in September the department will complete a plan to reform the organizational model, management methods, and preservation efforts at the Huong Son Complex (also known as the Perfume Pagoda), a national special historical and scenic site. At the same time, the department will implement a promotional campaign themed “Hanoi Tourism - Essence Converged 2025,” introducing new tourism products and experiences.
A highlight of Hanoi's tourism activities in September will be the Hanoi Beverage Festival 2025. Additionally, Hanoi will participate in the International Travel Expo (ITE) in Ho Chi Minh City, as well as present tourism at the ITB India trade fair and promote Vietnamese tourism in India. The city will also attend the IFTM Top Resa International Travel - and expand cooperation in tourism development with France in 2025.
Furthermore, the department will organize Hanoi's participation in the Four-Culture Culinary Festival in Hue and the Thanh Tuyen Festival in Tuyen Quang. It will also launch the Hanoi Autumn Festival 2025 and the Hanoi Tourism Ao Dai Festival 2025. Several training workshops, inspection tours, and travel business networking programs will also be conducted to enhance tourism connectivity at the ward and commune levels.
In collaboration with local governments and relevant agencies, the department plans to develop various tourism products, such as agro-tourism, rural tourism, night tourism, and community-based tourism linked to the cultural heritage of ethnic minorities. A new tourist attraction at the Hanoi Beer Museum is also in development.
