The southern province of Hau Giang has launched many action programs to well implement policies and laws on care, education and protection of children and has strengthened measures to prevent and minimize the risk of child abuse and child accidents.
On June 1, at the launching ceremony of the "Action Month for Children 2023”, with the theme "Joining hands to reduce harm to children" at the Center for Culture, Sports and Radio of Long My town, Deputy Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Hau Giang Province Ho Thu Anh requested the Party Committees, the authorities at all levels, departments, agencies, organizations and localities in the province to well implement the “Month of Action for Children 2023”.
The official also asked relevant agencies to proactively coordinate and synchronously and promptly deploy guidelines and policies in solving children's issues, and regulations on child protection and care; effectively implement the plan to realize the National Action Program for Children in the period of 2021 - 2030 in the province; to build a safe family environment, regularly pay attention, care, and supervise to ensure the safety of children, prevent and combat child violence, child abuse, accidents and injuries, and prevent child drowning, to protect children's safety in the online environment;
These agencies were also requested to proactively speak up, actively detect, inform, notify and denounce acts of child abuse; mobilize the entire society to join hands to promptly care for and support children in special circumstances and poor children in the province.
Responding to the month of action for children, implementing the goal of "Joining hands to reduce harm to children", the Women's Union at all levels in Hau Giang province have also organized many practical activities, such as: paying visit to, presenting gifts, sponsoring the orphans, organizing cultural, physical training and sports activities in order to create a useful, joyful and exciting playground for children on the occasion of the International Children's Day (June 1).
Under the framework of the Programs "Going to school with children", "Accompanying poor children to overcome difficulties", and "Godmother of orphans", the Women's Union of Long My Town, Vi Thuy District, Vi Thanh City paid visit to and gave gifts and 50 scholarships to poor children who overcame difficulties and studied well, and the orphans sponsored by the Women's Union.
The union also organized the program “Give Wings to Your Dream”, badminton competitions, mini football competitions... to create a useful playground for a large number of teenagers in the province.
In Phung Hiep district, the Women's Union of Phuong Phu commune coordinated with the local government to form the club "Say no to violence and abuse of girls" with 11 members who are women whose children are teenagers, thereby promoting awareness of care, education, and protection of children, and minimizing abuse of young girls.
The Women's Unions at all levels have coordinated with the local party committees and authorities to organize many campaigns to raise awareness of the consciousness and responsibility of agencies, organizations and individuals to care for, educate and support orphans, especially orphans due to Covid-19, to create a safe, friendly, healthy living environment to fully exercise children's rights, ensuring children's full development.
Hau Giang province has well implemented policies and laws on child care, education and protection; strengthening measures to prevent and minimize the risk of child abuse and child accidents, especially drowning and traffic accidents; disseminating information about the national child protection hotline (111) and the addresses to receive information, notifications, denunciations of child abuse and providing child protection services to children.
