Van Quy and his wife Alexa, who is from the US, recently held their wedding at Vung Duc Cave in Cam Pha City with support from some local tourism operators.

Quy, a professional dancer, and Alexa, a photographer, said that they got the idea and planned the wedding themselves. "It's our special day so we wanted to make it really special," Quy said. "And it was a really nice experience for both of us and our guests."

Guests were transported on a boat from Tuan Chau Port in Halong City to the cave, which took over an hour.

According to the organiser, they faced some difficulties including poor light and telephone coverage. "However, we managed to make the party a success with five-star decorations," the organiser said.

The Vung Duc Cave lies in Bai Tu Long Bay which is about 45 kilometres northeast of Halong Bay. The cave is home to stalactites that look like huge and graceful curtains, which can be turned into a beautiful stage for large events.

"The couple were happy with their wedding," the organiser said, adding that they expect that it will become a new trend to see more couples holding their weddings in places close to nature instead of at home or in hotel halls.

In February, an Indian couple also held their wedding at a beach-side resort in Halong Bay with the participation of over 600 guests.
