The service, which has been running from November 28, is aimed to facilitate the transport of bus rapid transit (BRT) passengers, while helping to ease traffic congestion and environmental pollution in the city.

Specifically, passengers of the Kim Ma-Yen Nghia BRT route can use these bikes to travel between the Van Khe bus stop and Aeon Mall Ha Dong in Ha Dong District.

The electric two-wheeler sharing system in Hanoi which has been recently piloted has served a modest number of passengers

Bui Duc Hung, a member of the electric two-wheeler sharing project, said on Wednesday, only around 10 people chose to use the service at the Van Khe BRT stop. The figure was even lower during the first three days of operation.

According to Hung, many people might not know about the service. Meanwhile, some others have failed to ensure the necessary procedures, such as having an identification card and driving license, to be allowed vehicle use.

To date, the V-sharing application to use the service has only been available on mobile phones with the Android operating system.

"The application is still waiting for Apple’s approval. It is expected to be updated on the App Store in some days to come,” Hung noted.

For people who lack a driving license, if necessary, a member of the project will help transport them by e-bike.

The project management board has planned to arrange free Wifi transmitters in areas where e-bikes have been placed. A supervision system will also be facilitated to deal with possible frauds.
