The HCMC Department of Transport has formally presented the plan to the HCMC People’s Committee, outlining the fees applicable to temporary roadside and sidewalk use in the city.

Monthly fees for sidewalk areas designated for parking services will range from VND20,000 to VND350,000 per square meter, while for other activities, it will be from VND20,000 to VND100,000 per square meter.

These proposed fees are determined based on the average land use fees across five designated areas. The first area, which encompasses districts 1, 3, 4, 5, 10, Phu Nhuan, a portion of a new urban residential area in southern HCMC, and the Thu Thiem new urban area, will be subject to the highest fees. On the other hand, the fifth area, comprising Can Gio District, will have the lowest fee.

These fees will apply to organizations and individuals who are granted temporary use of roadsides and sidewalks for activities such as cultural events, setting up parking lots with fee collection, and transshipping domestic waste for public utility companies.

Revenue generated from these activities, estimated to exceed VND1,500 billion annually, will go to the state budget. The money will be allocated to finance the management, maintenance, and operation of roadsides and sidewalks.

This move is part of the city’s efforts to reorganize social order and enhance urban aesthetics, aiming to align with current socio-economic development goals while ensuring effective local governance and facilitating temporary roadside and sidewalk use by various organizations and individuals.
