A high schooler in the northern province of Nam Dinh has successfully made a car using solar energy.

Ngo Viet Cuong, the 11th grader from Tong Van Tran High School in Y Yen District, lives in a family which operates a garage. This helped him nurture a love for cars since he was small.    

He designed the car based on a Volkswagen. His older brother also supported him travelling to many garages in Nam Dinh and Thai Binh provinces to look for suitable engines and spare parts. Then he spent up to three months assembling the car.

Cuong sometimes wanted to give up but his parents always encouraged him to pursue his dream. 

    

He succeeded and the vehicle can transport two people at the speed of 40 km per hour.

The car’s interior design is quite eye-catching with some parts covered with leather. According to Nguyen Thi Lan, Cuong’s teacher, Cuong is a smart student and his car should really be submitted to science and technology innovation competitions and showcases in the province.
