Update news high-speed railways
Under the Prime Minister’s authorization, Minister of Transport Nguyen Van Thang signed the Government's report to the NA on the implementation of railway transport development policies and use of the State budget to develop these projects.
Under current law, high-speed railways must have a speed of 350 kilometers per hour. However, some experts believe that the North-South Expressway should have a speed of 250 kilometers per hour and carry both cargo and passengers.
High-speed railways in countries around the world currently run at a speed of 200-250km/hour. Vietnam plans to have a high-speed railway system in the next 10 years, but so far it has not yet been able to choose technology and train speed.
The Ministry of Transport has proposed the construction of two high-speed railway projects, with one linking Hanoi with Nghe An Province’s Vinh City and the other connecting HCMC with Khanh Hoa Province’s Nha Trang City.
