Today, September 28, the Ho Chi Minh City Police Department disclosed the outcomes of their drug-related crime investigations.

From the start of the year, the police force has identified and resolved 2,430 incidents, arresting 6,137 individuals involved in drug law violations. This represents an increase of 754 cases, or 44.99%, compared to the same period last year.

As a result of these operations, the police have seized over 980 kilograms of various drugs along with numerous firearms, ammunition, and related tools and vehicles.

The investigative police department of Ho Chi Minh City has initiated legal proceedings in 2,076 cases involving 4,023 suspects.

Among the notable cases was a mid-July operation by the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department in collaboration with the Cu Chi District Police and the Ministry of Public Security's Drug Crime Investigation Department (Bureau of Narcotics). This operation dismantled a major drug trafficking network from Cambodia to Ho Chi Minh City, leading to the arrest of six suspects and the seizure of 15.5 kilograms of synthetic drugs and a military firearm.

In late August, following a shooting incident in District 6 that disturbed public order, local police, after only five days of receiving the information, expanded their investigation and dismantled a drug trafficking network. They initiated legal actions against 11 individuals for "Disrupting public order," "Illegal possession, use of military weapons," and "Illegal trade and possession of narcotics."

The police confiscated six heroin blocks, over 15 kilograms of various synthetic drugs, and 11 military firearms.

Recently, in early September, the Tan Phu District Police, together with the Ho Chi Minh City Drug Crime Investigation Department and the National Bureau of Narcotics, along with other related units and local authorities, arrested a group involved in the illegal transport, storage, and sale of narcotics. In this case, the authorities seized more than 19 kilograms of synthetic drugs and 40 packets of a drug colloquially known as "happy water."

In mid-September, the District 8 Police, in cooperation with other units, successfully cracked down on a major case, dismantling a drug trafficking network from Cambodia to Ho Chi Minh City and other areas. The seized materials included 20 kilograms of methamphetamine, 10 kilograms of ketamine, and 42 blocks of heroin, resulting in the arrest of 14 individuals.

The Ho Chi Minh City Police are currently expanding investigations into several large-scale drug trafficking networks and actively pursuing related suspects for further legal action.
