President Nguyen Xuan Phuc and a high-ranking delegation arrived in Jakarta on December 21, beginning a three-day State visit to Indonesia at the invitation of Indonesian President Joko Widodo.

This is the first visit to Indonesia by a high-ranking Vietnamese leader after the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Covid-19 pandemic. It is also the first State visit by a Vietnamese President to Indonesia in nine years, as the two nations are preparing for the 10th anniversary of their strategic partnership. The visit is expected to strengthen political trust and deepen multifaceted cooperation.

A brief meeting between the two presidents takes place after the welcome ceremony.

President Phuc is scheduled to hold talks with his Indonesian counterpart and witness the exchange of a number of cooperation documents between the two countries.

He will be meeting with the speakers of the Indonesian People’s Consultative Assembly (lower house) and Regional Representative Council (upper house), as well as leaders of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Indonesia-Vietnam Friendship Association, and a number of large Indonesian firms.

President Nguyen Xuan Phuc is accompanied by Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son; Chairman of the President's Office Le Khanh Hai; Deputy Minister of National Defense - Senior Lieutenant General Vo Minh Luong; Deputy Minister of Public Security - Lieutenant General Le Quoc Hung; Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Quoc Khanh; Vietnamese Ambassador to Indonesia Ta Van Thong and Assistant to the President Bui Huy Hung.

Tran Thuong
