Tech leaker Fixed-focus Digital recently shared details on Weibo about what it claims is an accurate representation of the “Dark Cherry” finish expected for the iPhone 18 Pro. According to the source, the actual shade is not a bright or orange-toned red, but something considerably darker and deeper.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman was among the first to report on the new color, describing it as a “deep red.” Since then, numerous dummy models and renders of the iPhone 18 Pro in “Dark Cherry” have appeared online, although their shades have varied considerably.

According to Fixed-focus Digital, the darker, deeper red version is the more accurate representation. The Chinese source describes it as “a red with purple undertones, close to the color of cherries.” That description is also consistent with several previous leaks, particularly dummy units shared by Sonny Dickson.

Those models suggest the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max could come in four colors: Light Blue, Black, Silver and Dark Cherry. Of the four, Dark Cherry stands out most for its distinctive red-purple tone, giving it a look that is both sophisticated and noticeably different from previous iPhone Pro finishes.

Dark Cherry reportedly corresponds to Pantone 6076

Back in April, Macworld reported that Apple was preparing a new color for the iPhone 18 Pro lineup. The shade was described as a deep, wine-like red and referred to as Dark Cherry.

According to that report, Dark Cherry could replace the Cosmic Orange finish introduced with the iPhone 17 Pro. The leak also pointed to Pantone 6076 as the color code believed to correspond to the new shade Apple is preparing.

Another source, Instant Digital, has since added weight to reports about both the name and appearance of the color. According to the leaker, Dark Cherry blends burgundy red, coffee brown and deep purple. The combination creates an unusual shade that is neither overly bright nor completely dark, while its appearance could shift depending on lighting conditions.

If the information proves accurate, Apple appears to be aiming for a more distinctive color identity for its next-generation Pro models. It would also give the iPhone 18 Pro an immediately recognizable visual signature without requiring major changes to its overall design.

Dummy iPhone 18 Pro Max units shared by Sonny Dickson in May showed Dark Cherry alongside three other options: Light Blue, Black and Silver. Among the four, Dark Cherry attracted the most attention because of how clearly it differs from colors Apple has previously offered on its Pro iPhones.

According to the leaker, Dark Cherry could quickly become a popular choice once the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max officially go on sale. That would hardly be surprising, as color is often one of the most immediate ways consumers distinguish one iPhone generation from another.

Apple has repeatedly generated significant attention by introducing new finishes for its premium iPhones. Dark Cherry could play a similar role on the iPhone 18 Pro if it makes the final lineup. Its red-purple character would be distinctive enough to feel fresh, while the deeper tone would preserve the premium aesthetic associated with Apple’s Pro series.
