Apple may be preparing one of the most noticeable design changes to its premium iPhone lineup in years, as new leaks surrounding the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max suggest larger displays and a completely different body ratio.

Although the next-generation iPhone models are still far from launch, rumors surrounding the iPhone 18 series have already intensified - and many of the latest reports directly contradict earlier leaks about the devices’ overall design.

According to newly surfaced information, Apple may significantly alter the proportions of both the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, making the devices taller and narrower compared to previous generations.

If accurate, the move would mark one of the boldest visual redesigns for the iPhone Pro series in recent years.

iPhone 18 Pro Max could feature a massive 7-inch display

In an image shared by leak account @MajinBuOfficial on X, the dimensions of the iPhone 18 Pro lineup appear noticeably different from the current generation.

Leaker Abhishek Yadav later added that both models would adopt a “taller and narrower” form factor.

The most striking detail involves screen size.

According to the leak, the iPhone 18 Pro may feature a 6.4-inch display, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max could reportedly reach 7 inches - a significant increase compared with Apple’s current Pro models.

If true, this would be the first major report suggesting Apple plans a dramatic shift in the physical dimensions of its flagship smartphones.

Until now, most industry insiders believed Apple would retain a design language largely similar to the iPhone 17 lineup.

Back in April, tech channel Max Tech published a video featuring alleged dummy units of the iPhone 18 series. Those mockups showed only minor adjustments around the rear camera module, with the overall chassis remaining nearly unchanged.

The video even suggested some iPhone 17 cases could remain compatible with the iPhone 18 generation, reinforcing speculation that Apple would continue its familiar design strategy.

The latest rumors, however, completely challenge that assumption.

If Apple truly adopts a taller and narrower body design, existing accessories would almost certainly become incompatible.

Still, many consumers may not see this as a major issue. Users planning to buy an iPhone 17 are unlikely to upgrade immediately, especially as current rumors suggest the iPhone 18 series may not deliver a complete revolution in everyday user experience.

A20 Pro chip expected to deliver the biggest leap

While the exterior remains the subject of debate, analysts appear far more confident about Apple’s internal hardware upgrades.

The centerpiece is expected to be Apple’s new A20 Pro processor.

The chip is rumored to become the company’s first processor manufactured using TSMC’s advanced 2nm process technology. If that happens, the iPhone 18 Pro lineup could deliver substantial gains in both performance and power efficiency.

The 2nm process is widely considered a major milestone for the semiconductor industry, allowing significantly higher transistor density while reducing energy consumption.

That would not only improve raw performance, but could also enhance battery life and thermal efficiency.

At the same time, many observers note that modern iPhones are already more powerful than most users realistically need.

Even the upcoming A19 Pro chip expected in the iPhone 17 series is believed to handle gaming, 4K video production and AI-powered tasks with ease.

As a result, only professional users and high-end content creators may fully notice the practical benefits of the next-generation chipset.

Camera upgrades and new colors remain key selling points

Apple is also expected to continue refining the camera system on the iPhone 18 Pro Max.

Although details remain limited, analysts anticipate improvements in low-light photography, optical zoom capabilities and AI-assisted image processing.

New color options are also likely to play a major role in refreshing the lineup.

This has long been one of Apple’s most effective strategies for encouraging upgrades, even when overall hardware design changes remain relatively modest.

Another notable rumor claims Apple may continue using aluminum frames for the iPhone 18 series.

While not particularly surprising, some users hope the company will address durability concerns reported on previous models, particularly issues involving surface wear and discoloration over time.

At this stage, however, almost none of the leaked information can be fully verified.

Reports continue to conflict with one another, ranging from claims that Apple will preserve the current form factor to suggestions of a major redesign centered around a taller, narrower display.

Ironically, those contradictions may be exactly why the iPhone 18 Pro Max has already become one of the industry’s most discussed upcoming devices.

If Apple ultimately adopts the rumored design, the company could be attempting to maximize screen space while improving one-handed usability - a balance smartphone manufacturers have struggled to perfect for years.
