According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, at 1:00 PM on December 9, the center of the low-pressure system was located near 8–9 degrees North latitude and 114.0–115.0 degrees East longitude.
Over the next 24 hours, the system is expected to move west-southwest at a speed of around 20 kilometers per hour.
Due to the influence of the system’s circulation and the associated cold surge, the southern East Sea will experience winds at level 5, with gusts reaching level 7.
The western waters of the southern East Sea (including the area west of Truong Sa), coastal waters from Khanh Hoa to Ca Mau, and the northern East Sea region (including the Hoang Sa archipelago) are forecast to have northeasterly winds at level 6, occasionally reaching level 7, with gusts up to level 8 or 9.
Wave heights in affected areas will range from 2 to 4 meters, accompanied by scattered thunderstorms and strong gusts, causing severe sea disturbances.
The meteorological agency has issued an advisory to all vessels operating in these areas to remain vigilant, take proactive precautions, and ensure maritime safety amid worsening conditions.
