Public passenger transport services have maintained stable fares, with some ride-hailing platforms even introducing price reductions.

Ngo Hai Duong, head of the Transport Management Division under the municipal Department of Construction, said that as of March 10, 15 fixed-route passenger transport operators had reported fare increases on 102 routes. Adjustments range from about 5% to 36%, depending on travel distance and vehicle type.

Notably, Phuong Trang FUTA Bus Lines, one of the city’s largest transport operators running 228 interprovincial routes nationwide, has announced it will maintain fares for both passenger and cargo services. City bus routes and Metro Line No. 1 (Ben Thanh – Suoi Tien) have also kept ticket prices unchanged.

Duong said the department will continue monitoring fare declarations and public listings while coordinating with relevant agencies to strengthen inspections and ensure adjustments comply with regulations and reflect market realities.

The city currently has 34 taxi operators with more than 24,000 vehicles in operation. According to Duong, Green and Smart Mobility (GSM), which runs over 20,000 electric taxis, accounting for 83% of the city’s taxi fleet, has applied a 10% fare reduction from March 11 to 31.

Meanwhile, Vinasun, operating around 1,700 taxis, has raised fares by 11–12%. Other taxi companies have maintained stable pricing while monitoring passenger demand. Among ride-hailing services, Grab and Be have not increased fares, while Xanh SM has introduced a 10% price cut.

In the road freight sector, the Ho Chi Minh City Cargo Transport Association reported operating costs among member firms have risen by 20–25% due to higher fuel prices.

On March 11, the municipal Department of Construction requested transport businesses to update operational conditions and propose solutions to ensure stable and uninterrupted services. Companies were asked to report on transport operations, cost changes, fare adjustments, price declarations, and operational difficulties, if any.

Based on these reports, the department will recommend measures aimed at maintaining stable transport services, ensuring smooth passenger travel and uninterrupted goods circulation./.
