VietNamNet Bridge – The HCM City Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism is considering the violation against Vietnamese law of the artists who participated in the music DVD produced by the US-based Asia Music Center.

Mr. Vo Trong Nam - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of HCM City, said the department is now in the process of reviewing and evaluating for the last time the content of music products of the Asia Center, including the latest program. This evaluation process has the advice from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Mr. Nam said the artist who have performing activities inconsistent with the law of Vietnam may be banned from performing in Vietnam.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nhan, an official from the Performing Arts Agency, also confirmed that after the review process, the artists who violate Vietnam’s law will be subject to sanctions.

On January 10, the website of the HCM City People's Committee published a statement on guiding the relevant departments and agencies and People's Committees of all districts to call for people to not popularize the music show entitled ASIA 71 - 32 year anniversary, produced by Asia Center in the US. Accordingly, the People's Committees of districts should coordinate with relevant units to strengthen inspection and strictly handle those who copy, store and distribute these music discs.

The Asia Center was founded in 1981 and has so far produced 71 shows. The 71st show had the participation of singers Thanh Tuyen, Ngoc Huyen, Lam Nhat Tien, Y Phung, Nguyen Hong Nhung, Manh Dinh, Tuan Vu, Thanh Lan, Sy Dan ... The discs of Asia distributed in Vietnam are illegal.
