McLaren supercars officially distributed in Vietnam have seen sweeping price increases of roughly $103,000 to more than $228,000 from their previous list prices. The McLaren 750S Spider alone now costs nearly $1.2 million, about $353,000 more than when it made its local debut two years ago.

This marks the second price increase for the McLaren brand in Vietnam. According to the distributor’s newly updated price list, the McLaren Artura Coupe now costs about $682,000, an increase of around $101,000, or 17.4%. The Artura Spider is priced at approximately $747,000, up around $114,000, or 17.9%.

For the McLaren 750S, the Coupe now costs about $1.06 million, an increase of roughly $204,000, or about 23.8%. The 750S Spider has a new price of approximately $1.18 million, up around $228,000, or about 24%.

That makes the McLaren 750S Spider the model with the steepest increase. When the convertible debuted in Vietnam in April 2024, its starting price was around $825,000. Just over two years later, it has risen by more than $353,000, equivalent to nearly 43%. The 750S Coupe has also become roughly $304,000 more expensive in the two years since arriving in Vietnam.

Among the four versions, only the McLaren Artura Spider had previously received a slight price cut from the distributor, in February this year, after benefiting from Vietnam’s new special consumption tax policy for hybrid vehicles, under which they are subject to 70% of the tax rate applied to equivalent gasoline-powered vehicles. However, the reduction amounted to only about $12,500. Under the latest pricing, the model has now risen again by nearly $114,000.

Looking at the current range, McLaren supercars in Vietnam are considerably more expensive than in their home market of the UK, as well as in other Southeast Asian countries.

In the UK, for example, the McLaren 750S Coupe has a reference price of around £246,655, or approximately $331,000, while the 750S Spider costs about £269,160, equivalent to roughly $362,000.

The McLaren Artura Coupe is priced at around £185,945, or approximately $249,000, while the Artura Spider costs about £221,945, equivalent to around $298,000.

However, the burden of taxes and fees makes these supercars about three times as expensive in Vietnam. The special consumption tax on the McLaren 750S reaches 90%, while the Artura is subject to a lower rate of 42%, under the policy applying 70% of the corresponding 60% tax rate for gasoline-powered vehicles.

McLaren is a British supercar brand known for its high-performance models, extensive use of carbon fiber and technology derived from motorsport. Among mid-engine supercars, the Artura and 750S compete with formidable rivals such as the Ferrari 296 GTB and 296 GTS, and the Lamborghini Temerario. Slightly lower in price but still offering extremely high performance are models such as the Porsche 911 Turbo S and Maserati MC20.

In terms of specifications, the McLaren 750S is powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 gasoline engine producing around 740 horsepower and maximum torque of 800 Nm. Both the Coupe and Spider can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 2.8 seconds. The Coupe reaches 200 km/h in about 7.2 seconds, while the Spider takes around 7.3 seconds. Both have a top speed of 332 km/h.

The Artura, meanwhile, represents the British automaker’s move toward electrification. The McLaren Artura is a plug-in hybrid supercar combining a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine with an electric motor. The powertrain produces a combined output of around 690 horsepower and maximum torque of 720 Nm. The Artura Coupe accelerates from 0-100 km/h in three seconds, reaches 200 km/h in about 8.3 seconds and has a top speed of 330 km/h.

McLaren supercars first appeared in Vietnam in late 2015 through private imports, beginning with a 650S Spider owned by businessman Pham Tran Nhat Minh, better known as Minh Nhua. Models including the 570S, 720S, 765LT, GT, Senna and Elva were subsequently brought into the country by car enthusiasts, becoming associated with prominent names such as coffee tycoon Dang Le Nguyen Vu, chairman of Trung Nguyen Group; businessman Nguyen Quoc Cuong, also known as Cuong Do La; and Hoang Kim Khanh, owner of the Mailisa beauty salon chain, who recently became embroiled in legal trouble and was prosecuted and placed in pre-trial detention by the Ministry of Public Security’s Investigation Police Agency in November 2025 for investigation into alleged smuggling.

It was not until March 2022 that McLaren officially entered the Vietnamese market, appointing S&S Automotive, part of S&S Group, as its authorized distributor. According to the distributor, the latest price increases are primarily driven by logistics costs.
