The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has sent a document to the Ministry of Home Affairs providing feedback on proposed schedules for Vietnam Culture Day in 2026, the Lunar New Year holiday and the National Day holiday in 2027.

After reviewing the Ministry of Home Affairs’ proposals, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism agreed with Option 1 for the Vietnam Culture Day holiday in 2026 and Option 1 for the Lunar New Year holiday in 2027.

Under Option 1 put forward by the Ministry of Home Affairs for consultation, the 2027 Lunar New Year holiday would include the five days off stipulated by regulations, comprising two days before Tet and three days after. As two weekly rest days fall within the Tet holiday period, civil servants, public employees and workers would be entitled to compensatory days off in accordance with regulations.

Under this arrangement, the 2027 Lunar New Year holiday for the Year of the Goat would last seven consecutive days, from Thursday, February 4, 2027, corresponding to the 28th day of the 12th lunar month in the Year of the Horse, through Wednesday, February 10, 2027, the fifth day of the first lunar month in the Year of the Goat.

For Option 1 covering Vietnam Culture Day in 2026, which falls on Tuesday, November 24, the Ministry of Home Affairs has proposed moving the working day of Monday, November 23, to Saturday, November 28. This would give civil servants and public employees four consecutive days off, from Saturday, November 21, through Tuesday, November 24.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism also agreed with the other provisions in the draft document to be submitted to the Prime Minister regarding the proposed schedules for Vietnam Culture Day in 2026, the Lunar New Year holiday and the National Day holiday in 2027.

The ministry asked the Ministry of Home Affairs to review and consolidate feedback from ministries and government agencies, complete the proposal and submit it to the Prime Minister for consideration and approval.
