This is the first time customers in Vietnam will be able to approach Facebook services, including Free Basics and Facebook Flex, through their MobiFone account.

Free Basics is a free portal that provides users with basic and useful information about social matters: sports, entertainment, education, transportation, employment, and healthcare, etc.

With Facebook Flex, customers will have access to the shortened Facebook social network, follow friends’ news, and can comment, share, and, in particular, can send instant messages via Facebook Messenger for free on the MobiFone network.

This is an effective way to maintain a Facebook and internet connection when accounts are out of money, ensuring continuity of information through social connections.

The launch is evidence of MobiFone’s strategy of cooperating with big partners. Deputy General Manager Mr. Bui Son Nam said that MobiFone, the first operator in Vietnam, has partnered with Facebook to bring these useful services to Vietnam.

“This collaboration will help spread knowledge, which enables people to capture information in order to participate in and benefit from the fourth industrial revolution on a global scale,” he believes.

He also said that MobiFone and Facebook will honor the values of Vietnamese culture as well as human cultural values based on the foundation of understanding and mutual respect.

Ms. Anna Nygren, Business Development Manager and Asia Pacific Mobile Partner of Facebook, aid that the aim of Facebook is to provide connections in areas without internet.

“We expect to help everyone approach the internet and improve their life,” she said on the sidelines of the launch ceremony.
