Vietnam Bear Sanctuary in Tam Dao National Park, Vinh Phuc, the first of its kind in the country, is opening for visitors to raise public awareness of protecting the endangered species.



Operating since April 2008, the sanctuary spans 1.2 hectares and can accommodate 200 bears.





Two newly-inaugurated semi-natural outdoor enclosures linked with two double bear houses cover a total area of more than 5,600 square metres.






Each enclosure contains two rows of conjoined concrete dens, as well as rehabilitation areas for special-care bears.






Keepers must wear hygiene uniforms and walk through cleansing containers before entering the bear areas.

Bears at the santuary were rescued from captive conditions.

Fruit sometimes is frozen, making it hard to eat, thus helping bears to restore their natural instinct faster. 












Edible oil is poured on food to help bears find it easier.
