For years, the tech world has repeatedly predicted the gradual decline of gaming smartphones. As flagship devices like the iPhone and Galaxy series continue becoming more powerful, the performance gap between mainstream premium phones and dedicated gaming devices has narrowed significantly. Yet just as many believed the category was fading away, RedMagic introduced a product that immediately captured the industry’s attention.

To celebrate its eighth anniversary, the company officially unveiled the RedMagic 11S Pro lineup in China with eye-catching specifications including an 8,000mAh battery, an aggressively overclocked Snapdragon processor, an active cooling fan system and a transparent cyberpunk-style rear design. It is the type of product mainstream flagships like the iPhone or Galaxy rarely dare to pursue.

According to RedMagic, the device serves as a mid-cycle upgrade to last year’s RedMagic 11 Pro, which was widely praised as one of the most visually striking smartphones on the market thanks to both its design and gaming-focused cooling performance.

An 8,000mAh battery turning heads across the smartphone market

The most shocking feature of the RedMagic 11S Pro is undoubtedly its enormous 8,000mAh battery - a capacity almost unheard of in a modern flagship smartphone. For comparison, most premium smartphones today typically range from around 4,500mAh to 5,500mAh. Even battery-focused models such as the Galaxy Ultra or iPhone Pro Max have yet to approach this level.

In addition to the oversized battery, the phone supports both wired and wireless 80W fast charging, allowing users to enjoy extremely long battery life while dramatically reducing charging times.

However, the 8,000mAh version will reportedly remain exclusive to the Chinese market. The international model expected to launch on May 27 will likely feature a 7,500mAh battery, which still surpasses most smartphones currently available.

Monster Snapdragon chip similar to Galaxy S26 Ultra

Inside the RedMagic 11S Pro is the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Leading Version processor running at speeds up to 4.74GHz. This is reportedly the same overclocked chipset version appearing in benchmark leaks tied to the upcoming Galaxy S26 Ultra.

The interesting difference lies in cooling strategy. While Samsung primarily relies on traditional vapor chamber cooling, RedMagic has essentially built a complete cooling machine inside its device.

The phone is equipped with a cooling fan spinning at 24,000rpm, a 4D Vapor Chamber system and Composite Liquid Metal 3.0 materials to control temperatures for the notoriously hot-running processor under heavy workloads.

The entire cooling system is packed inside a body carrying an IPX8 water-resistance rating, something rarely seen on gaming smartphones with active cooling fans. This is also why RedMagic claims the device can sustain stable performance for long gaming sessions without thermal throttling.

144Hz display and gamer-focused features

The RedMagic 11S Pro features a 6.85-inch BOE X10 AMOLED display with 1.5K resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. The setup is particularly suited for fast-paced games, especially competitive FPS and MOBA titles.

The device also includes shoulder trigger controls with a 520Hz response rate and touch sampling speeds reaching 3,000Hz, delivering near-instant responsiveness during gameplay.

In terms of cameras, the smartphone uses a 50MP primary sensor, a 50MP ultra-wide camera and a 2MP macro lens. The 16MP selfie camera is hidden beneath the display to provide a full-screen viewing experience.

The device also retains the increasingly rare 3.5mm headphone jack, a feature still highly valued by gamers due to lower audio latency during gameplay.

Pro+ version pushes things even further

Alongside the standard model, RedMagic also introduced the more extreme 11S Pro+ version. The phone offers up to 24GB of RAM, 1TB of internal storage, a 7,500mAh battery, 120W wired charging and 80W wireless charging.

The starting price in China is 5,499 yuan, equivalent to around $763 based on direct exchange rates.

The launch of the RedMagic 11S Pro comes at a time when gaming smartphones face increasing pressure. Mainstream flagship devices are now powerful enough to run AAA mobile games without major performance issues.

Rather than trying to become an all-purpose smartphone like the iPhone or Galaxy series, RedMagic has chosen to push every gaming-focused element to the extreme: massive batteries, RGB cooling fans, transparent backs and maximum performance.

This strategy stands in sharp contrast to Asus, which is reportedly pausing plans for a new ROG Phone lineup in 2026.

Of course, gaming smartphones still involve compromises. The under-display selfie cameras used on previous RedMagic devices were not particularly impressive, and that likely remains unchanged on the 11S Pro. For most mainstream consumers, a traditional flagship smartphone may still make more sense.

However, for users who frequently play demanding games on smartphones and are frustrated by overheating and performance drops, the RedMagic 11S Pro could become an extremely difficult device to ignore.
