Guest teams from Indonesia, the Philippines, China, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Kazakhstan, and Russia will all join with hosts Vietnam to participate in the 18th edition of the annual tournament.
The Vietnamese national team have been drawn in Group A alongside the Indonesian national team, Kuanysh VC of Kazakhstan, and Korea Expressway of the Republic of Korea.
Group B will see King Whale Taipei of Taiwan (China) play Aranmare Yamagata of Japan, Henan Shuanghui of China, and Kobabelka of Russia.
The teams will play in a round-robin format to select the top four teams to the semi-finals.
The VTV International Women's Volleyball Cup is organised by the Volleyball Federation of Vietnam (VFV) and sponsored by VTV.
The tournament was launched in 2004 and has been since held annually. However, from 2020 to 2022, the event was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Last year saw the Vietnamese women’s volleyball team 1 win the tournament after defeating the Vietnam women’s volleyball team 2 in the final match held in Lao Cai province.
Vietnamese players competed in four international tournaments before participating in VTV Ferroli Cup 2024, namely the AVC Challenge Cup 2024 with the championship title, the FIVB Challenge Cup 2024 in third-placed position, the Futures Stars 2024 in fifth position, and the SEA V.League 2024 with the runner-up title.
