Discovering sidewalk food is one of the things foreign travelers are advised to do when planning trips to Vietnam. If they arrive in summer, they are advised to try nuoc mia. The juice is super cheap, just VND7,000-10,000 per glass.
Will Courageux, a French expat who has been living in Vietnam for many years, wrote on his fanpage that nuoc mia is the most wonderful drink of Vietnamese.
The 31-year-old man said that the sidewalk drink is a mixture of the sweetness of sugarcane with the mild sourness of kumquats.
In a video posted on his Youtube channel, Will revealed that Vietnamese sugarcane juice is popular in Europe.
Agus from Toronto, Canada, liked nuoc mia when trying for the first time. He said, "Fresh nuoc mia in Vietnam is the best."
In addition to the original flavor, the young man said he was impressed by the original small vending vehicle and the process of making the drink
Anatoly Lobanov from Ukraine, who now lives in Nha Trang, a sea city in the central region, wrote on his page about his excitement when enjoying nuoc mia. He even asked the seller to allow him to make a glass of nuoc mia for himself.
He had fun inserting the sugarcane into the pressing machine. The man added kumquats to the machine together with sugarcane. The fruit has a mild sour taste.
Nuoc mia is also a favorite in other countries.
Lindo, 26, a vlogger from Angola, who is the owner of a YouTube channel with 500,000 followers, was once invited by a Vietnamese friend to enjoy a glass of nuoc mia. In the country where he lives, there are vast sugarcane growing areas, but local people don’t know how to make drinks from the plants.
As Lindo liked the nuoc mia very much, he decided to buy a press machine made in Vietnam and open a nuoc mia shop in the local market to serve Angolans. He learned how to make nuoc mia from the Vietnamese.
