The tournament features three main categories, including a professional division, a men’s amateur division and a women’s amateur division. Notably, the professional event is part of the VGA Tour Development system, with a total prize fund of VND150 million (US$6,100).
The Hanoi Open traces its origins back to a tournament held to celebrate the 1,000th anniversary of Thang Long - Hanoi, an event that was once recognized in the Vietnam Record Book.
Alongside the competition, the Hanoi Golf Association (HNGA) has launched a special initiative titled “Golf Hanoi - A journey of history and aspiration”. The program aims to collect and preserve valuable materials related to the history of golf in the capital, honoring the contributions of generations of golfers to the sport’s development.
With both competitive play and cultural storytelling at its core, the Hanoi Open 2026 is expected to offer not only high-level sporting action but also a deeper reflection on the evolution of golf in Hanoi.
