Valuable contributions
Recently, Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs Luong Thanh Nghi had a talk with the media about the outstanding contributions of overseas Vietnamese in the process of building and developing the country; solutions to attract the brain resources as well as the coordination among relevant agencies in the work related to Vietnamese overseas.
Noting the outstanding contributions of the overseas Vietnamese community in the process of national construction and development over the past time, Mr. Luong Thanh Nghi was quoted by the Vietnam News Agency as saying that in recent time, overseas Vietnamese from all over the world have had very valuable contributions to the cause of building and defending the country, both physically and mentally. Economically, the annual amount of overseas remittances they sent home always grew at over 10% per year. The cumulative remittance from 1993 up to now has reached about US$160 billion, making an important contribution to the country's balance of payments and being an important investment capital source contributing to promoting socio-economic development in localities.
Overseas Vietnamese also have production, investment and business activities in Vietnam with more than 3,000 enterprises and projects, totalling a registered capital of over US$4 billion. It is especially important that overseas Vietnamese are contributing their intellect and energy, especially in the field of science and technology for the country. Recently, many intellectual groups of Vietnamese people such as: the Global Association of Vietnamese Scientists and Experts, the Vietnam Initiative Group in the US, the Vietnam Journey Group in Singapore and other groups in many countries ... have made specific contributions to the country's scientific and technological development.
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc emphasized the strong resources and great potential of millions of Vietnamese people around the world.

Along with that, overseas Vietnamese are very interested in the sacred sovereignty of the country. Therefore, during the past 9 years, the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs has organized delegations of oveseas Vietnamese to visit Truong Sa (Spratly) island district and the DK1 Rig House.
Through these meaningful visits, overseas Vietnamese better understand the actual situation in Truong Sa so that when returning home, they will have practical activities. For example: Overseas Vietnamese in many countries like Germany, Poland, France, South Korea and some other areas have established Truong Sa Clubs. These clubs are very active, connecting members who have visited Truong Sa and at the same time, actively contributed to the propaganda and affirmation of Vietnam's sovereignty over the Truong Sa and Hoang Sa (Paracel) Islands.

The State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs closely grasped the thoughts and aspirations of overseas Vietnamese
Mr. Luong Thanh Nghi emphasized that these outstanding achievements were achieved thanks to the effort of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs, which has closely followed and firmly grasped the minds and aspirations of overseas Vietnamese to know understand about their expirations and know what do they want to do, how do they to live and do business, what are the specific needs when they return home.
According to Mr. Luong Thanh Nghi, a very important point is the attention of the Party and the State through the promulgation of Resolution 36 of the Politburo on overseas Vietnamese affairs in the new situation as well as Resolution No. 45-CT/TW of the Party Central Committee Secretariat on continuing to promote the implementation of Resolution No. 36-NQ/TW of the 9th Politburo on overseas Vietnamese affairs in the new situation, the Government's Action Plan for the period 2016-2020 and legal documents from ministries and sectors to concretize guidelines and turn them into legal policies of the State. Basically, such policies and guidelines are right and come to life, bringing practical effects to our country in general and overseas Vietnamese in particular.
“One more thing, I think that not every country has, that is patriotism, the spirit of national pride. This is the common denominator of all Vietnamese around the world. There may be people who hold prejudices, raise different views about specific issues in the country but they always look to their homeland, their country and wish in one way or another, to contribute to the cause of construction and development of the country,” concluded Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs Luong Thanh Nghi.
