In attendance at the ceremony were Yen Bai province’s leaders, over 100 pilots, paragliders, and thousands of local and foreign visitors.

This year’s edition marks the third year that the paragliding festival has been held in Yen Bai.

The paragliding spot is located in the middle of the Khau Vai pass and has a height of 1,200 metres above sea level.

It is widely considered one of the nation’s most beautiful paragliding spots.

Luong Thi Xuyen, vice chairman of the Mu Cang Chai district People’s Committee, said this year’s paragliding festival will take place over the weekend on May 25 and May 26.

In order to meet the demands of visitors, subsequent weekends will see 10 pilots continuing to conduct flights.

Aside from enjoying the impressive performances put on by local and foreign paragliders and pilots, visitors will also be able to register to take part in flights with some of the crews in order to savour the spectacular scenery of Lim Mong valley.

To mark the occasion, Mu Cang Chai district will organise pavilions to introduce books and local specialties from May 25 to May 31 at the Khau Pha pass area in Cao Pha commune.

Furthermore, a number of community-based tours have been organised to take place from May 18 until the end of June in the communes of Che Cu Nha, La Pan Tan, De Xu Phinh, Nam Khat, Cao Pha, and in Mu Cang Chai town.
