A portrait of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong was prominently displayed within the pagoda grounds.
Many attendees, moved by grief, stood before the portrait, unable to contain their emotions.
For them, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong was a distinguished leader, devoted to the nation and its people throughout his life.
Le Thi Yen Thi, 23, who is active in the Youth Union of Binh Tri Dong A Ward (Binh Tan District), shared: "During my time with the Youth Union, the actions and ideas of General Secretary Trong have always been exemplary for us to follow."
Young people, including Dang Dang Khoa from Binh Tan District, visited Vinh Nghiem Pagoda with friends to light incense and bow respectfully before the portrait of the General Secretary.
"Upon hearing the news of General Secretary Trong's passing, I felt immense sadness, as if losing a family member. To me, he was a leader of profound capability, virtue, and dedication. Though physically distant, he remains close in the hearts of all Vietnamese," said Ms. Quyen from Binh Thanh District.
After lighting incense, many people observed a moment of silence before the portrait of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong. Some quietly wiped away tears, mourning the loss of a respected leader.
The state funeral for General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong will be held with national mourning ceremonies on July 25 and 26.
