At a national conference summarizing the 2024 performance of the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism (MoCST), Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh praised the success of concerts such as Anh trai say hi (Brothers Say Hi) and Anh trai vượt ngàn chông gai (Call Me By Fire) and emphasized the importance of replicating such initiatives.
Building a culture-driven future
Held on December 18, the conference connected over 770 venues nationwide and focused on the theme: "Building an advanced culture with a strong national identity – a driving force for Vietnam’s development in a new era."
Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung highlighted significant achievements, including cultural preservation, the development of 50 cultural models across provinces, and new UNESCO recognitions for two Vietnamese heritage sites in 2024.
He also noted the emergence of cultural industries as a key driver of economic growth, citing the widespread success of creative initiatives like the Hanoi Design Festival 2024 and the sold-out performances of the Anh trai concert series.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh commended the Ministry for its contributions to national development, calling culture "the inner strength of the nation." He stressed the dual role of cultural industries in both boosting the economy and enriching the spiritual life of the people.
PM Chinh outlined seven major tasks for 2025:
Institutional reform: Eliminate outdated practices, simplify administrative procedures, and promote digital transformation.
Infrastructure development: Build comprehensive cultural and sports facilities, focusing on digital and AI-based systems.
Talent cultivation: Implement policies to attract and retain talent in arts, sports, and cultural sectors while encouraging innovation and holding individuals accountable for avoiding responsibility.
Resource mobilization: Leverage public-private partnerships and optimize financial, human, and policy resources for cultural development.
Smart management: Enhance data-driven governance in the cultural sector.
Expanding successful models: Replicate outstanding initiatives, such as the Anh trai concert series and achievements in women's football and volleyball.
Broader access to cultural benefits: Ensure that all Vietnamese citizens can enjoy cultural, sports, and tourism achievements.
Referring to the Anh trai concerts, Chinh highlighted their impact as cultural milestones that exemplify the potential of Vietnam’s creative industries. “Why don’t we replicate these successes?” he asked, encouraging further innovation in Vietnam’s approach to culture, sports, and tourism.
The Prime Minister concluded by urging the cultural sector to accelerate its efforts with strategic foresight, bold innovation, and a focus on tangible results in 2025.
