On the evening of October 25, Binh Chanh District Police provided information about an incident involving a male student at Tan Tuc High School who allegedly placed a recording device in the girls’ restroom.

According to authorities, rumors circulated online on October 25, claiming that a male student from Tan Tuc High School had installed a hidden recording device in the female restroom. The school administration cooperated with district police to investigate the matter.

The initial investigation revealed that, on the afternoon of October 23, 12th-grade student N.Q.H recorded an 11th-grade female classmate on his phone while she walked to the school canteen. Another student noticed and demanded he delete the video, but N.Q.H showed indifference.

The witness reported the incident to a classmate named D.K., who confronted and struck N.Q.H, demanding he delete the footage in front of him. Following this altercation, the school administration invited the families of both students for a meeting. N.Q.H submitted a written apology for recording his classmate without consent, while D.K admitted to physical assault.

Later that evening, rumors spread on Facebook, with anonymous accounts claiming that N.Q.H had installed a hidden camera in the girls' restroom. This false information caused concern among teachers, students, and parents.

Binh Chanh District Police, in cooperation with school administrators, quickly met with the involved students in the presence of their parents and conducted a thorough inspection of all restrooms. No hidden cameras were found.

N.Q.H denied filming female students in the restroom, and a check of his phone revealed no inappropriate images as suggested by social media posts.

The incident has caused anxiety among parents, students, and the public. This initial misinformation led to further unfounded rumors, such as claims that N.Q.H had transferred to another nearby school. Authorities confirmed this is false, and N.Q.H remains a student at Tan Tuc High School.

Binh Chanh District Police have advised the school administration to work with homeroom teachers to help students manage their concerns. The police also urge parents to stay calm, encourage students to focus on their studies, and verify information before posting on social media. Any acts of defamation or spreading false information will be legally addressed.
