On Friday afternoon, the Commission for Policies and Strategies held a conference to announce the Politburo’s decisions on personnel work.
The Politburo decided to mobilize, assign and appoint Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son as Deputy Head of the Commission for Policies and Strategies.
The Politburo also decided to mobilize, assign and appoint Nguyen Sy Hiep, Deputy Minister-Chairman of the Government Office, as Deputy Head of the Commission for Policies and Strategies.
Nguyen Kim Son was born in 1966 and is originally from Hai Phong. He holds the academic titles of Associate Professor and Doctor of Philology. He is a member of the Party Central Committee in the 13th and 14th tenures and a deputy to the 15th National Assembly.
Before being appointed Deputy Head of the Commission for Policies and Strategies, Nguyen Kim Son served as Vice Director, Standing Vice Director and later Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi. Since April 2021, he has been Minister of Education and Training.
Nguyen Sy Hiep was born in 1974 and is from Ninh Binh. He holds a master’s degree in International Trade and Economic Integration. He is a member of the 14th Party Central Committee.
Nguyen Sy Hiep previously served as assistant to the Prime Minister and Director General of the Secretariat-Editorial Department of the Government Office before becoming Deputy Minister-Chairman of the Government Office in September 2014.
Speaking at the conference, Nguyen Thanh Nghi said that the presentation of the decisions to the two officials reflected the attention of the Politburo and the Secretariat to consolidating the commission’s leadership in a period when it is undertaking many important tasks assigned by the Party Central Committee and the Politburo.
He noted that both Nguyen Kim Son and Nguyen Sy Hiep possess firm political mettle, strong research capacity and extensive practical experience.
The head of the commission expressed his hope that the newly appointed deputy heads would quickly familiarize themselves with their new responsibilities, bring into play their strengths and experience, and join the collective leadership, cadres, civil servants and public employees of the commission in fulfilling assigned tasks.
In his remarks upon taking on the new role, Deputy Head Nguyen Kim Son affirmed that he would make every effort, remain ready to undertake assigned duties, quickly grasp the work and apply his experience and expertise to the job.
He also expressed his gratitude to the collective leadership of the Ministry of Education and Training for their support over the past period and voiced his hope for continued guidance and assistance from the commission’s leadership and staff in the time ahead.
Deputy Head Nguyen Sy Hiep, for his part, said he would continue striving, remain open to learning and self-improvement, and rapidly approach his new responsibilities to meet the commission’s increasingly demanding requirements. He expressed his wish to receive support from the commission’s leadership as well as effective coordination from central and local agencies, and from the commission’s cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers, in order to successfully fulfill both his assigned duties and the commission’s overall mission.
The Commission for Policies and Strategies is an advisory body assisting the Party Central Committee, directly and regularly the Politburo and the Secretariat, in leadership and direction of socio-economic development; in orienting the building and improvement of economic institutions; and in formulating major guidelines, policies, strategies and measures on socio-economic issues.
The current Head of the Commission for Policies and Strategies is Nguyen Thanh Nghi. Its deputy heads are Thai Thanh Quy, Nguyen Kim Son, Nguyen Sy Hiep, Nguyen Hoang Anh, Nguyen Thuy Anh, Nguyen Anh Tuan, Nguyen Duy Hung, Nguyen The Manh, Nguyen Duc Hien and Nguyen Duc Trung.
