In the clip, the bride in a traditional ao dai and the groom in a formal suit are seen boarding a flight with both families. The journey, spanning nearly 1,000km from Da Nang to Quang Ninh, was part of their wedding ceremony, allowing them to return to the groom’s home for ancestral rites and the official celebration.

The moment was shared by the bride, Phuong Dung, with a caption that resonated widely: “At an age when people choose between airport security gates or wedding aisles, I chose both.”

The couple behind the viral video are Phuong Dung (born 1995, Huong Tra ward, Da Nang) and Xuan Tuyen (born 1996, Ha Long ward, Quang Ninh). Although the wedding took place in late 2025, the bride only recently posted the footage, unexpectedly attracting widespread attention.

“We held the wedding ceremony at the groom’s house at the end of 2025, but the celebration at my family’s home only took place in March 2026,” Dung said.

“While preparing for the latter, I remembered the special moment of our wedding procession and decided to share it. I didn’t expect it to receive so much love.”

The couple’s homes are nearly 1,000km apart. Determined to choose an auspicious date believed to bring lasting happiness, both families agreed to arrange the wedding procession by plane.

Two weeks before the ceremony, they booked tickets. The groom’s side had 10 representatives, matched by 10 from the bride’s family. The total airfare cost came to VND40 million (approximately US$1,600).

On November 28, 2025, the groom and his family flew to Da Nang to carry out the engagement ceremony. Wedding offerings had been prepared in advance, allowing the groom’s side to collect them before proceeding to the bride’s home.

The following morning, ancestral rites and a small reception were held at the bride’s house. Soon after, the 20-member wedding party headed straight to the airport - still in full wedding attire - to fly back to the groom’s home.

“Everyone, from the bride and groom to relatives and friends, went to the airport exactly as they were dressed for the ceremony,” Dung recalled.

“Our group stood out that day. Many people took photos and videos, and we received warm congratulations from airline staff and fellow passengers.”

The flight departed on time, ensuring the schedule remained intact. By late afternoon, the entire group arrived at the groom’s home just in time for the next ceremonial steps.

“The wedding went smoothly, warmly and full of memories. I feel lucky and deeply grateful that everything, though prepared in just three weeks, was so carefully arranged. Both families supported us wholeheartedly so our big day could unfold perfectly,” she said.

“Having the wedding procession by plane was more complicated and costly, but everyone supported the idea so we could marry on the most meaningful date. We were truly touched.”

Dung and Tuyen first met in early 2025 while working on a design project. Despite the long distance, they found sincerity in each other and chose to build a future together.

After a year of long-distance love, the couple are now married and settling into their new life in Quang Ninh.
